Scoring & Scorekeeping

Scoring and Scorecards

  • The Scorer is the player (or players) assigned by the committee in each foursome to record the scores of others in the group in a legible manner on the scorecards provided.
  • It is the scorers responsibility to record the scores verbally told to him by the Players.
  • The Scorer is not a referee, but if he knowingly records an incorrect score for any Player, both the Player and the Scorer will be disqualified.
  • All Players are expected to keep their own scores independently.  Players are responsible for attesting to their own score on the official card kept by the Scorer.
  • A complete, legible and attested scorecard is expected to be turned in at the completion of play

Posting Scores on the Board

  • It is the responsibility of the team and/or the player to post the correct scores on the board, not just the Scorer.  Scores not posted or incorrectly recorded on the board at the end of play may result in disqualification of the team and/or player at the discretion of the committee.
  • Players are responsible for double checking their own scores as recorded by the Scorer on the official card.  Incorrect addition, or posting incorrect scores may result in disqualification of the player if an incorrect score is posted.
  • If a member is participating in the Kickers, it is the players responsibility to insure that his GROSS score is recorded correctly on the separate Kickers sheet on the board.  Players who have not recorded their gross scores prior to the roll of the dice are not eligible to participate in the Kickers.  There will be no exceptions.

Rules Committee

  • Whenever a question arises about proper scoring in unusual circumstances, the Scorer and/or Player must consult the Committee for clarification.  The decision of the committee is final.
